Join us on one of our incredible sea kayaking adventures in picturesque La Jolla. We offer daily guided tours for you to discover the diverse marine life.
We offer four guided kayak tours each day departing at 9am, 11.30am, 2pm and 4pm. In addition we also offer snorkeling tours, and kayak rentals.
KAYAK TOURS
Join us for a real adventure; kayaking with seals, sea lions, leopard sharks, garibaldi, shovel nose guitar fish - and sometimes even dolphins and turtles.
Our guides expertly blend the fun and enjoyment of kayaking with the excitement of discovering La Jolla's marine ecological reserve. The reserve contains five distinct marine environments in less than two square miles making it one of the most unique stretches of coastline in California.
Sea lions and pelicans bask on the rocks; cormorants nest on the cliff faces; giant bat rays ply the deep; brightly colored garibaldi seek shelter in the rocky shallows; schools of timid leopard sharks and rays feed in the sandy bottoms; and harbor seals eye us curiously from the kelp forests.
Our ultimate destination is the magnificent sea caves that the ocean has carved from ancient cliffs, the true beauty of the area is all around the caves. Please don't have your heart set on entering the caves as this is not always safe to do. Instead, open your eyes to the details around you and you will never be disappointed!
We use stable sit-on-top kayaks that are very user friendly and no previous experience is required. Both single and tandem kayaks are available and paddling is easy and fun!
Ja Jolla Sea Cave Kayaks limits the number of boats on any tour to a maximum of 10, and we always have a ratio one guide for every 5 boats. Tours last 1.5 hours on the water, and total time of the experience from start to finish is 2 - 2.5 hours. We do not take children under the age of 6 years kayaking.
SNORKEL TOURS
La Jolla is one of the premier snorkeling destinations in California. The water in the marine reserve is teeming with life. All tours last 1 hour and must be booked in advance. On the day, if the visibility is not good, we will unfortunately have to cancel the tour. We do not mix groups of snorkelers - therefore when you book a snorkeling tour with La Jolla Sea Cave Kayaks your party will be provided with a tour guide just for you. KAYAK RENTALS
Kayak rentals are on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved in advance. Please come into our shop to check availability!
